Surfing Queensland Coast of Origin

The inaugural Coast of Origin Series started over the weekend and was underway on both the Gold and Sunshine Coast. Each coast enjoyed the stellar run of winter swell that's graced south-east Queensland in recent weeks, with pumping waves across the four event locations.
Mudjimba beach provided ideal conditions for the Sunshine Coast Area Challenge (North) in the opening round of the Surfing Queensland Coast of Origin Interclub Series. High profile surfer Dean Brady lead the way in the blue ribbon Open Men's division.

Hive team riders Isabella Nichols and Jaleesa Vincent both competed, with Isabella winning the U16 division and Jaleesa unfortunately being knocked out of the competition.

Competition throughout the day was close with just six points separating Noosa Boardriders from second place finishers Coolum Boardriders.
Final results saw Noosa Boardriders with a total of 92 points followed by Coolum Boardriders (86), Mudjimba Boardriders (61) and Composite North Boardriders (14 points).
We will now see a super-team from each end of both coasts competing in August to find the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast Champions respectively before an overall series champion is crowned in October.
